See my thread earlier this afternnon - it seems any of the cables on ebay for about 12 quid all in will work with the shareware version of vag.com.

I'm ordering a cable today - I'm near Potters Bar so quite close to you - but for the sake iof 12 quid, if it works is a bargain. You'd be welcome to try mine when I get it.

I'll let you know how I get on although it won't be delivered before the weekend if not next week i'd expect.

looks ok - although until i get mine and try it out i cant be absolutely sure. however, it's not a great amount of money, even if it works only once it would save money on garage bills

I'd give it a go :D

Thats the same as my lead, works fine and you can access the Aux Heater, I have the same job to do (reports glowplug open circuit).

Use VagCom Ver 3 or 4, BigKev checked mine out first that gave me the nudge to try my lead and get the software etc.

[iT hat on]

Have you rebooted the PC?

Try another USB port after reboot, you may have to change the port in the software if it loads.
